Inspiring women at all stages of career and education is vital to Women Tech Council's mission. Working with universities across the state of Utah, WTC offers mentoring and speaking opportunities. To have a WTC professional come and speak at your campus click here.
For 10 years, Women Tech Council has been supporting university mentorship efforts through its various talent and economic programs. This year, Women Tech Council would like to formalize its university efforts to create a University STEM Talent Expansion Program (U-STEP) consortium consisting of higher ed partners, government partners, and industry partners. One critical focus of the U-STEP consortium is to retain women STEM students mid-degree, where the research shows that, during that critical time, almost 40% of women students opt out of completing their STEM degree and move to other non-STEM degrees.
WTC’s U-STEP program provides four steps that help lead to success: Industry Mentoring, Workforce Integration, Visible Impact, and Leadership Opportunities. We would love for your company to join WTC’s U-STEP consortium.
Industry members will support a kick-off event Fall 2017, hosted by the University of Utah, support content, resources, events, career fairs, internships, and tech tours for student engagement and workforce development. And finally, encourage and support women STEM students to participate in U-STEP’s student leadership and visibility events.
