Lindsey Zuloaga

Lindsey Zuloaga is a physicist by training and a passionate problem-solver by nature. She has nearly a decade of experience in academic research focused on experiments and simulations to understand how nanoparticles interact with light and the resulting applications in medicine, sensing, and signal processing. Lindsey completed a B.S. in Physics from the University of Utah, an M.S. and Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Rice University, and has worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

Shifting to a career in industry, Lindsey was excited about working on fast-paced, high-impact projects. She started her data science career in the healthcare space, striving to improve the lives of people with chronic health conditions. As the Director of Data Science at HireVue, she is working to completely transform traditional recruiting and interviewing with a video platform that focuses on a holistic understanding of job candidates’ fit with roles and organizations. Lindsey is leading a team that is pioneering a new wave of assessments that measure verbal and nonverbal responses, cognitive skills, expression of emotions, and personality as opposed to just the static information presented on a resume, or close-ended responses captured in a traditional assessment.

Lindsey feels strongly about education and has been a mentor to many people throughout her career. She loves translating complex ideas to non-technical audiences in a way that fosters excitement for the subject. A notable industry speaker, she has presented at many technology conferences, including O’Reilly AI.  She participates in regional community events including local Data Science conferences and Meetups, and is a passionate advocate for using Artificial Intelligence to overcome bias.
