Bonnie Uresk
Bonnie Uresk is the Program Manager for the satellite avionics team at the Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) at Utah State University. She leads a team of flight hardware and software engineers advancing next generation satellite technology to support missions for the Department of Defense, NASA, and industry partners.
Bonnie is responsible for managing and executing technical aspects of the avionics architecture to strategically steer and execute SDL’s satellite technology development. Under her leadership, the team is able to increase efficiencies and apply lessons learned across programs, reduce duplication of effort and program costs, increase reliability, and ensure a significant, positive impact on satellite programs of national importance.
Bonnie has 20 years of increasing responsibility as a trusted customer interface, technical leader, and electrical design engineer. She began her career designing Space Shuttle electronics and missile system components at ATK, holds a patent for an Ordnance Bus System, and is a co-author for the first internal rocket motor sensor test. She was then recruited by L3 to design military communication hardware and served as a Principal Investigator for Internal Research and Development projects and holds a patent in digital communications. Bonnie’s entrepreneurial spirit can be seen in her work as an independent consultant to design, demonstrate, and deliver hardware for military programs. In addition to successful advanced technology demonstrations, a key design passed qualification testing and is in production.
Bonnie strongly believes in the importance of mentoring and fostering a collaborative learning environment. Throughout her career, she has been a strong advocate and mentor for engineers. She engages in STEM outreach by speaking at SWE events and encourages young women to consider careers in engineering while supporting workshops for Expanding Your Horizons.
