Rachel Laub

Rachel Laub is pursuing her dream of becoming a Software Engineer as a matriculated student at Weber State University (WSU) majoring in Computer Science with minors in Entrepreneurship and Fashion Merchandising. While completing a rigorous high honors curriculum at Davis High School she concurrently earned the Information Technology Technician Certificate from Davis Technical College (DTC). At the DTC she facilitated and taught 5th-9th graders the basis of object-oriented programming with an emphasis in web development. Rachel completed a Web Development Internship through the DTC Marketing team involving the languages of HTML, CSS, C#, and JavaScript. Rachel is currently an intern for WSU’s Admissions Office for the Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) team. She maintains, imports and retrieves all prospective students’ information for a cloud-based system communicating with the Banner database. While attending WSU Rachel enjoys involvement in Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and Science, Technology, Engineering Programs (STEP).

Rachel is an Admissions Ambassador at WSU responsible for visiting high schools, giving campus tours, running new student orientations and being the representative for the College of Engineering, Applied Science and Technology. Rachel’s commitment to bettering society motivated her to co-found Students Against Electronic Vaping (SAEV) in 2016. She took it upon herself to develop a webpage and social media platform. She met with legislative representatives, helped organize a state-wide activist campaign, spoke at city council and school meetings. This earned her the highest leadership award through Sterling Scholar, the Philo T. Farnsworth Governor’s In Excellence Award.

Rachel loves traveling, clothes and family. She broadened her horizons this summer by engaging in a 35-day study abroad to 10 European countries and 19 cities learning about history, culture, and people. This reinforced her love of diversity that she will continue to explore as a Software Engineer.
