Local entrepreneur says to retrain from within

PROVO — One of the most serious shortages in high-tech or innovative companies that employers face is finding technologists and programmers.

By 2020, there will be 1.4 million computing jobs and only 400,000 computer science students graduating.

“We need a new talent pool,” Sara Dansie Jones said and then gave solutions.

 Utah Valley Entrepreneurial Forum invited Jones to share her insight on the shortage and how to build an A-Team of technologists for the monthly luncheon on Oct. 9 at Zions Bank in Provo.

Women Tech Council Announces Call For Nominations For Women Tech Awards 2008

Sandy, Utah – May 19, 2008 – Women Tech Council (WTC), a non-profit organization that provides leadership, support and mentorship for women in all levels of the technology industry, announced today a call for nominations for the first Women Tech Awards 2008. The Women Tech Awards will recognize technology-focused women who are driving innovation, influencing technology companies, and are passionate about the community. Judges for the Women Tech Awards are selected from among the top technology companies and professional firms in Utah. Nominations for the Women Tech Awards will be open until June 18, 2008.
